Lisbon ranked 3rd best place for remote working

If you are someone who enjoys working from home, an entrepreneur, a digital nomad, a freelancer or just interested in taking a break from your usual workplace (workation), then we have good news for you.

In a ranking drawn up by Holidu, a respected accommodation search engine, Lisbon is the 3^rd best city in the world for remote working. The platform analysed 147 cities, measuring factors that every remote worker deems important: cost of one-bedroom apartments, hours of sunshine, cost of after-work drinks and, most importantly, wi-fi speed.

But, besides being the 3^rd best place for workation, Lisbon is actually the best European city in the ranking, coming before Barcelona.

A city of many wonders

Why exactly is Lisbon taking the top spot? According to Holidu: the city “is many things – home of the delicious pastel de nata, great cheap wine, and buzzing with energy as the sounds of Fado fill the streets”.

As more and more people look at the benefits of remote work, the Portuguese capital is turning into a haven for freelancers and digital nomads. The reason? Low cost of living, easy to fly in and from and overall quality of life. As Holidu highlights, the city offers easy access to a number of beaches, “which is perfect for a morning or late afternoon swim”.

Not interested in Lisbon? What about Porto or Faro?

In a ranking of 150 countries, it’s noteworthy that other Portuguese cities are considered great for remote working: Porto is in 27^th place and Faro in 58^th.

Foreign entrepreneurs seeking a modern, high-tech and economically viable territory, revered for its safety and investment attractiveness, will find an easy answer in many Portuguese cities.
