Portugal among the top 10 European destinations for investment!

As we know very well by now, the year 2020 was a shocking surprise for investors, enterprises, and the general population. As the world learned how to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, businesses and dreams were forced to be put on hold for several months.

In spite of such a difficult setting, certain countries have all but confirmed their assets as interesting hotspots for international entrepreneurship. Notable among them is Portugal – a country widely revered for its Golden Visa program and Tax Benefits.

In fact, and according to the most recent data gathered by the EY European Investment Monitor (2019-2020), Portugal has become one of the 10 most attractive destinations to invest in.

Investors are optimistic about Portugal

A total of 154 foreign investment projects were registered in 2020, making this European country the 6^th largest destination for software and IT services (with a sum of 50 projects). Also noteworthy is the international interest in the manufacturing industry (accounting for 37 projects).

Then again, one of the most notable findings of this country’s EY Attractiveness Survey is “the investor’s growing optimism”, as “90% of them are confident the pandemic impact in the Portuguese attractiveness will not last more than three years”.

Also noted in the report is that half of the foreign entrepreneurs believe Portugal will become an even more attractive destination in the aforementioned time period, while a total of 37% hope to either start a business or expand their current operations in this country in the near future.
