Portugal among the 10 most economically inclusive countries for Women
Despite its location in the westernmost corner of Europe, Portugal happens to be a remarkably progressive country. This is evident not only in the way Portuguese people, in general, are quite welcoming to foreign visitors but also in matters such as LGBT+ Rights.
Fortunately, Portugal has also become a leading nation when it comes to gender equality and women’s rights. That’s one of the key findings of the Women, Business and the Law 2021 report, published annually by the World Bank.
As suggested by its title, this study analyses the laws and regulations that influence women’s economic opportunities in 190 different territories. Gathering data from September 2019 through October 2020, this was the first report created under the COVID-19 pandemic.
Portugal obtains a perfect score
Portugal is one of the ten nations that obtained a perfect score in this year’s edition of the report. This evaluation was based on the country’s performance in key indicators, such as mobility, workplace, marriage, parenthood, entrepreneurship, and pensions, among others.
As a result, the overall score of Portugal is higher than the average of high-income countries. This is especially noteworthy as the report also emphasizes that women only have about three-fourths of the legal rights of men, throughout the world.
At Easely Portugal, we understand the importance of gender equality and equal rights. We also seek to use our expertise to help foreign entrepreneurs invest in this country, taking advantage of its unique assets.
