Portugal: the third safest country in the world!

Ranked just behind Iceland and New Zealand, Portugal also happens to be the most secure country among the European Union, scoring above other attractive neighbours, such as Spain or France.

The welcoming population, the pleasant weather, the low crime rates, the absence of terrorist attacks, and the relative political stability explain why Portugal has become a true haven for those seeking a new place to live in, or an interesting country to make investments.

The aforementioned report comprised data of 163 countries or independent territories, which corresponds to 99.7% of the world population. Among the variables evaluated were the levels of Societal Safety and Security, the extent of domestic or international conflict, as well as the degree of militarization.
