Portugal among the top 3 destinations for Golden Visa!

With the first quarter of 2021 already underway, Portugal increases its reputation as a competitive destination for international investment. According to a study by the British consultancy Astons, this European country is one of the three best territories for those seeking residency in the European Union in exchange for investment.

More specifically, the agency claims that Portugal’s Golden Visa programme – which grants foreign entrepreneurs access to national citizenship five years after the investment – is especially appealing to international audiences due to its strong connection to the real estate market.

As a result, Portugal is ranked – right after Montenegro and Switzerland – as a third hotspot, when it comes to new build associated with the Golden Visa scheme. The country also appears especially promising to UK citizens, who are interested in bypassing the new Brexit restrictions.

Current Golden Visa rules remain in effect until 2022

Housing property investments in high-density areas of Portugal – namely in the capital (Lisbon), the second-largest city (Porto), and the coastal territories (such as the Algarve region) – will not be eligible for the Golden Visa programme after the 31st December of 2021.

This is the result of the Portuguese government’s effort to emphasize investment in other less-populated (but also quite promising) areas – including the Islands of Madeira and the Azores, as well as secondary cities throughout mainland Portugal.

This is why this is the perfect moment for you to fulfil your investment!
